Remodeling in Garner, NC

Garner is close to our base and we are through it most weeks. The housing runs from 1960s and 70s brick ranches around Vandora Springs and Heather Hills out to newer subdivisions toward White Oak and Auburn, and the ranches are the more interesting half of the work.

Those houses were built solidly but small, with rooms closed off from each other in a way that nobody wants any more. Opening a kitchen into a dining or living room is the single most requested job we do here, and it is almost always load-bearing — which means a properly sized beam, real temporary shoring while it goes in, and posts carried down to something that can actually take the load rather than to a floor joist that happens to be underneath. It is not a job to take the cheapest quote on.

The rest is steady, unglamorous, useful work: bathrooms redone, floors replaced through the whole house, decks rebuilt, drywall and paint after a leak, and repair lists worked through in one visit rather than five.
