Carpentry Work

Rough framing through finish trim, by the same hands

Rough & FinishBenson, NC · Serving the Triangle

Carpentry is the trade the rest of a remodel is measured against. If the framing is square, plumb and on layout, then the drywall is flat, the cabinets hang level, the tile joints run true and the doors close without being planed. If it is out, every trade after it spends money hiding the error, and the last one in gets blamed for it. So we frame to a line: walls plumb and straight, headers sized to the opening, joists crowned the same way, and openings framed to the actual door or window in hand rather than to a nominal size. And we do the finish end of the same trade — casing, base, crown, built-ins, shelving, stair parts, mantels and interior doors — where the standard is simply that the joints stay closed.

Our Process

1

Free Estimate

We look at what is being built or opened up, and what is currently carrying the load above it. That is what sets the price and the method.

2

Lay It Out

Lines snapped, layout marked, and openings sized to the actual door or window rather than to the nominal size on the box.

3

Frame or Fit

Framed plumb, square and on layout — or, on finish work, cut and coped so the joints stay closed when the timber moves.

4

Check & Adjust

Doors hung and adjusted, trim set and filled, and everything checked with a level rather than by eye before it is called done.
