Remodeling in Wake Forest, NC

Wake Forest is the northern edge of our coverage and one of the more varied places we work, because the historic district and the new subdivisions sit within a couple of miles of each other and could not be more different to remodel.

Around the old town centre the houses are genuinely old and often lovely, and the constraint is matching. New trim has to match a profile that is no longer made, a floor has to be repaired rather than replaced because the boards are wider than anything you can buy, and an opening cannot simply be moved because of what is holding the roof up. That work is slower and it should be — done badly, a renovation takes the character out of a house that had it and cannot be given back.

Heritage, Traditions and the surrounding developments are a different job entirely: large, well-built, recent houses where the owners want the kitchen opened up, the primary bathroom rebuilt around a proper tiled shower instead of a garden tub, hard flooring through the main level, and often a screened porch or an addition. We also cover Rolesville and Youngsville from here, which puts a corner of Franklin County inside our range.
